The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders are the official cheerleading squad of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League. The squad performs a variety of dance routines at Raymond James Stadium, the home of the Bucs, with the team’s mascot Captain Fear.[1] The squad debuted alongside the Buccaneers during their inaugural season. The squad was originally known as the SwashBucklers until 1998.[2]
As of Tampa Bay’s 2016 season, there are 27 members of the squad. Each year, the squad releases a swimsuit calendar.[3] The group also has a ’Junior Cheerleader’ program.[4] Before the Bucs’ game against the Chicago Bears in Wembley Stadium in London, the squad taught a rugby union squad to play American football.[5]Uniforms[edit]
Though uniforms frequently change each season, the current uniform consists of gray and red tops, blackish-grey flat boots and short skirts. He isn’t exactly hitting the gaudy assist numbers he had last season (10.2 apg), but he’s played a lot more off the ball with the addition of newly-acquired point guard Dennis Schroeder.
Leading his Lakers to a modest 24-13 start to the season, James has been without All-Star center Anthony Davis for 14 games and counting, as the forward has been sidelined with an Achilles injury.
Despite that, LeBron’s Lakers are well positioned to finish out the regular season with a top-4 seed and are still just 3.5 games back of the West-leading Utah Jazz.
His efficiency has been spectacular once again, shooting over 50% from the field for the 10th time in his illustrious career.
In what may be his last real shot at the MVP award, LeBron’s story might be too enticing for the NBA to deny the king. Five dimes sports betting.

The Case for Joel Embiid
Embiid has put together the best season of his young career, averaging a whopping 30.2 points to go along with 11.6 rebounds and MVP level defense.
It’s hard to discount the gaudy numbers he’s putting up on a nightly basis, as he’s willed the Sixers to the top of the Eastern conference at 24-12.
On pace to play all but a small number of games, Embiid’s health has finally been in order, as this has plagued him throughout his career.
If he can continue the torrid pace he’s on, it’d be extremely difficult to dismiss how dominant he’s been on both sides of the floor, and he should get a number of MVP votes regardless of how LeBron and the Lakers finish the season.
The path for Embiid is pretty cut and dry, if his Sixers finish atop the Eastern conference, and he stays healthy, then his case for the league’s most valuable player is as good as any.

Before you can calculate the probability of winning at video poker, you need to understand some of the basics of probability math.
The first and most important thing to understand is that an event’s probability is just a number between 0 and 1. The closer that number gets to 1, the likelier it is to happen.
By definition, something with a probability of 0 will never happen. Also by definition, something with a probability of 1 will always happen.
And if you add the probability of something happening with the probability of it not happening, you’ll also always get a total of 1.
That probability can be expressed in multiple formats, but the most useful formats are odds and percentages.
Everyone knows what a percentage is. It’s just a measure of how many times out of 100 you expect something to happen. If something happens 20% of the time, that means it happens 20 times out of every 100.
Odds, on the other hand, can measure probability. But they also measure the amount a bet pays out. Something with a 20% probability of happening has odds of 4 to 1. You have four ways it can happen and one way that it can’t.

When you’re dealing with a slot machine, you have a variety of symbols on each reel, each of which comes up a certain percentage of the time. You don’t have any way of estimating how often that symbol will show up, but the slot machine manufacturer knows.
When they take all the possible combinations and their percentages of coming up, they balance that against the payout for each of those combinations to create a profitable game for themselves.
Let’s say you have a really simple slot machine game with four potential winning combinations: 100.1 stockton.
*You’ll get three bars 25% of the time and win even money.
*You’ll get three cherries 10% of the time and win 2 for 1.

It’s easy to calculate the expected return (another phrase for “payback percentage”) for a game like this.
You start by calculating the expected value for each of the possible prizes. You just multiply the probability of winning by the amount you’ll win.
*25% x 1 unit = 25%
*10% x 2 units = 20%
*5% x 3 units = 15%
*1% x 5 units = 5%

Over time, on average, you’ll get back 65 cents for every dollar you bet on that slot machine game.

My problem with slot machines is that they’re the only game in the casino where you don’t know what the odds of winning are.
When I’m rolling a pair of dice, I can calculate the probability of winning. When I’m playing blackjack, I can estimate the odds of winning, because I know what the odds of getting specific cards are. When I’m playing roulette, I know how many red and black outcomes are on the wheel.
But since slot machines are run by a random number generator, I have no way of knowing what the probability of getting three cherries in a row is. It could be 8 to 1, 16 to 1, or 1000 to 1.
All I know for sure is that the odds of getting each payout are lower than the payout odds for that combination.
Video poker, on the other hand, is based on a deck of 52 cards. I know how many of each card is in the deck, so I can estimate the odds of getting specific combinations.

For the most part, all video poker games are just variations of Jacks or Better. It’s a simple enough game. You bet between 1 and 5 coins and get dealt a virtual five-card poker hand. You then decide which of those five cards you want to discard and which you want to keep. The machine deals you replacement cards and pays off your bet based on the poker hand you wind up with.
The best possible hand is a royal flush, which pays off at 800 for 1 odds if you bet five coins. If you’ve bet fewer coins than that, it only pays off at 200 for 1 or 250 for 1, depending on the machine.
So, you should always bet the full five coins to take advantage of that higher payout. If you play with something approaching optimal strategy, you should get a winning hand about 45% of the time on a Jacks or Better video poker game.
That’s the short answer to “what are the odds of winning on a video poker machine,” by the way. It’s roughly 45%. But that’s not going deep enough. You should know more about it than that.

Of course, Jacks or Better is just one variation of video poker. You can find dozens of different video poker variations on the market. All of them are based on Jacks or Better, though.
With some of these variations, the big difference is the inclusion of wild cards. In Joker Poker, the game uses a 53-card deck with a joker that acts as a wild card. In Deuces Wild, the deck has the same 52 cards in it, but the twos are wild cards.
With games like these, the payouts for the various hands change based on how much more likely the higher hands are to appear.
But that’s not the only way casinos and game manufacturers vary their video poker games. They also change the payouts on various hands.
If they change those payouts enough, you get a different game. Bonus Poker, Double Bonus Poker, and Bonus Bonus Poker are basically variations of Jacks or Better that provide higher payouts for four of a kind hands of a certain ranking.
But even within a single narrow band of a game, like Jacks or Better, you can find multiple pay tables available. The differences in these pay tables change the payback percentage for the game.
With Jacks or Better, the pay table I used as an example is the best possible example. When manufacturers want to create a Jacks or Better game with better odds for the house, they have smaller payouts for the full house and the flush. This was a significant concern several years ago. In 2014, China initiated an anti-corruption regulatory crackdown, which greatly reduced the gaming activity in the area. Fortunately for the casinos, the downturn lasted for approximately two years and gaming activity in Macau recovered thereafter. Then the gaming activity in Macau faced another headwind, namely the trade war between the U.S. and China.
This headwind lasted for only about a year but now Macau is facing its strongest challenge ever, the outbreak of coronavirus, which has caused a huge hit in the gaming business. Casinos have now reopened but strict visa restrictions and requirements for a negative COVID test have kept tourism at depressed levels and thus they have caused daunting gaming activity in Macau.
As a result, gross gaming revenue in Macau has plunged 80.5% in the first eleven months of this year, compared with the same period last year. The trend was slightly better in November, when gross gaming revenue in Macau declined 70.5% over last year’s month. Notably, the consensus estimates have greatly deteriorated in the last five months, from a call for a loss of $10.84 per share in 2020 in July to a call for a loss of $18.59 in 2020 right now.
On the bright side, some vaccine studies have reported very promising results and billions of vaccines will be distributed worldwide in 2021. As a result, Wynn Resorts will have ample room to grow in the upcoming years thanks to its promising growth pipeline.

The company has made progress in the design of Crystal Pavilion in Macau, which will be a major tourist attraction. In addition, Encore Boston Harbor opened in June-2019 and has exhibited decent performance so far so it has promising growth prospects ahead thanks to expected ramp-up in activity. Moreover, Wynn Resorts aims to expand to Japan, which legalized casino gambling three years ago, though it will take many years before the company opens a casino in Japan.
On the other hand, the company has been caught off guard, with net debt of $10.8 billion, which is 88% of the current market capitalization of the stock. Therefore, the stock is carrying an increased amount of risk right now due to its high level of debt.
However, we believe that the coronavirus crisis will subside at the second half of next year and we view the long-term growth prospects of the company as intact. We expect 4% annual earnings-per-share growth off their mid-cycle level through 2025. Using the company’s current assets, return on assets of 5.6% over the last decade and share count, we believe Wynn Resorts has earnings power of $1.89. We will use this figure to calculate fair value and projected return.
Based on the earnings power estimate for 2020, the stock is currently trading at a P/E ratio of 51.8, which is much higher than its historical average of 30.1. However, the stock traded at abnormally high P/E ratios in some years due to depressed earnings in those years.

In late October, MGM Resorts reported (10/29/20) financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2020. The company had all its properties open at the end of the quarter. However, its revenue plunged 66% over last year’s quarter due to the suspension of the operations of the company in the U.S. for part of the quarter and a collapse in gaming revenues in Macau caused by travel restrictions, including strict requirements for COVID test and lengthy visa procedures.

As a result, MGM Resorts switched from a profit of $0.31 per share in last year’s quarter to an adjusted loss of $1.08 per share.
Due to the unprecedented downturn that has resulted from the pandemic, MGM Resorts cut its dividend by 98% in April. Moreover, in May, it issued $750 million of 5-year bonds at 6.750%. The high interest rate reflects the desperation of the company for funds and the high debt load of the company. Net debt is $20.1 billion, which is 130% the current market capitalization of the stock.
On the positive side, on August 20th, 2020, IAC (IAC) reported a 12% stake in MGM Resorts for approximately $1 billion. IAC has a portfolio of brands and digital expertise, which is expected to help MGM Resorts leverage its digital assets. IAC will join the Board of Directors of MGM Resorts. The stock jumped 12% on the announcement.
Nevertheless, due to the headwind of coronavirus, along with a huge debt load, shareholders should not expect a material boost in dividends and share repurchases for the foreseeable future. That said, we expect the pandemic to subside at the second half of 2021 thanks to the massive distribution of vaccines worldwide. MGM Resorts has a positive long-term outlook for conventions and sports betting in the domestic market, as well as the ramp-up of the recently-built MGM Cotai resort, MGM Springfield, and Park MGM.

In 2019, Melco Resorts grew its revenue 11% and its earnings per share 15%, primarily thanks to its strong performance in the mass market table gaming activity. However, conditions have predictably reversed due to the pandemic, with third-quarter revenue declining 85% and adjusted property EBITDA declining to a loss of $76.7 million.

Melco Resorts is expected by analysts to lose $2.70 per share this year. The losses have resulted primarily from the strict travel restrictions in Macau, which requires a negative COVID test from tourists while the issuance of tourist visa has become a lengthy procedure due to the pandemic.
On the bright side, some vaccine studies have reported exciting results and hence billions of vaccines will be distributed worldwide in 2021. It is thus reasonable to expect the pandemic to subside at the second half of 2021. As soon as the effect of coronavirus begins to fade, Melco Resorts has promising growth prospects ahead. It will benefit from the ramp-up of activity in its Morpheus Resort, which opened in mid-2018, and will attract an increasing number of visitors in Cotai thanks to improvements in mass transportation.
Melco Resorts is also expanding its City of Dreams in Macau and is taking steps to open an integrated resort in Yokohama, Japan. It is also developing City of Dreams Mediterranean, which will become the largest integrated resort in Europe. All these initiatives are likely to be significant growth drivers as soon as Macau returns to normal.
On the other hand, due to its extreme leverage to gaming activity in Macau, the stock is highly vulnerable to any negative development related to coronavirus. Therefore, despite the promising growth prospects, investors should hold conservative expectations for Melco.
Overall, we expect 2% average annual growth in earnings per share over the next five years, from a mid-cycle level of $1.00 to $1.10 in 2025. Moreover, the stock is currently trading at 18.7 times its mid-cycle earnings per share. We view the stock as fairly valued and hence we do not expect the valuation of the stock to play a major role in its 5-year return.
Therefore, shareholder returns will be fueled by earnings-per-share growth. The stock had a 3% dividend yield before the pandemic, but the company has suspended its dividend for the foreseeable future in an effort to preserve cash. Therefore, total returns are expected at just ~2% per year until the dividend is restored.
Given its healthy balance sheet, the company is likely to resume paying dividends once the coronavirus crisis ends. Since it opened in June 2004, Full Tilt has been the online poker site of choice for thousands of budding poker players and professionals alike. Its excellent software, vibrant graphics, and innovative games made it extremely popular with players around the world.

Then came what is known in the poker industry as “Black Friday.” Aptly, on Friday 13 October, 2006, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIEGA) came into force, which essentially made it illegal for banks and other financial institutions to process payments to gambling websites offering their services to residents of the United States.
While some online poker sites, such as partypoker, immediately withdrew from the U.S, others like PokerStars and Full Tilt continued to operate on American soil. It was a decision that paid off handsomely for PokerStars, but it was the beginning of the end for Full Tilt.
Poker sites had to be creative in order to process payments, thinking outside of the box for ways to have their players deposit and withdraw funds from the site. Unfortunately for Full Tilt Poker, US payment providers proved troublesome, which combined with some serious mismanagement by Full Tilt’s backroom staff, resulted in a huge black hole of funds.
Full Tilt continued to credit players’ account with the amounts they had attempted to deposit, but sometimes never received those funds from the payment provider. Its management team continued to do this for quite a length of time until the problem came to light and a figure of $300 million in “lost” funds was made public. This $300 million figure was what the American Department of Justice (DOJ) claimed Full Tilt had defrauded out of its customers, although former owner Chris Ferguson’s lawyer suggested the issue was most likely the result of mismanagement and not malice.
After the wheels fell off Full Tilt Poker, USA customers could no longer play on the once thriving site, in fact nobody could because Full Tilt was taken offline, seemingly lost forever, along with hundreds of millions of Full Tilt customers’ money. US Players And Full Tilt Poker In 2015
This remained the case until July 2012 when the DOJ and PokerStars reached an agreement that saw PokerStars pay the DOJ $225 million up front and a total of $547 million. PokerStars also made $184 million available to refund all non-U.S. players within 90-days of signing the deal. Full Tilt Poker US customers are still to this day receiving their fund back from the DOJ, despite PokerStars making their balances available immediately.
On Tuesday 6 November, 2012, Full Tilt relaunched its real money operations, although Full Tilt USA was no more, the door slammed shut on them, just as it had for PokerStars’ American customers.
To this day, Full Tilt Poker US operations are non-existent, but that could be all set to change because PokerStars reentered the U.S. market on Wednesday 16 March, 2016 with a soft-launch, albeit only in the state of New Jersey. PokerStars has spent heavily in lobbying for other states to allow online poker, which if successful, could open the gates for a return of Full Tilt Poker US.
However, a full return of the original Full Tilt USA friendly site is actually unlikely because in February 2016, PokerStars announced its intentions to merge Full Tilt and PokerStars traffic during the Spring of 2016.
Although Full Tilt Poker US is no more, there are a number of alternatives for Americans wanting to play online poker in the USA. Currently, players can choose to head to 888poker, partypoker, PokerStars, and WSOP when they are in New Jersey, or WSOP.com when in the state of Nevada.
In short, Americans cannot play at Full Tilt unless they are prepared to move to a country where Full Tilt currently operates.

There are many rule variations when playing fantasy basketball. The rules used in a particular league are determined by the rule settings. Some common rule variations are discussed below.Categories[edit]
Commonly, fantasy basketball leagues may track as few as three or as many as eleven categories. Three-category leagues usually account for only points, rebounds, and assists. Five-category leagues generally add blocks and steals. Eight-category leagues usually add field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and either three-point field goals made or three-point field goal percentage. Nine-category leagues usually add turnovers. Rarely, other statistics such as fouls are counted. Some leagues also prefer to break down the rebounds category into two categories: offensive and defensive rebounds.
Some leagues allow the league ’commissioner’ to determine which categories will be tracked. If these categories are chosen poorly, the league may be unfairly weighted for or against certain positions. For example, a league that tracks points, assists, steals, free throw percentage and three-point field goals would be weighted toward guards, who typically have higher numbers in many of those categories, and against power forwards and centers, who typically have higher numbers in the rebound, block and field goal percentage categories, which are not counted.Team Creation[edit]

In public leagues, the typical number of teams in a league is typically ten or twelve. Though, the number of teams allowed are (8 to 12). A Public League is a league where anyone can join. There are two types of drafting used to select players: the snake draft and the auction draft. In a snake draft, the first round is drafted in order. In the second round, the draft order is reversed so that the manager who made the last pick in the first round gets the first pick in the second round. The order is reversed at the end of each round so that the manager with the first overall pick does not maintain this advantage in every round. In an auction draft, each manager has a set budget (commonly $260, an amount borrowed from fantasy baseball) that he or she must use to fill out the team’s roster. Recently I’ve been struggling with the idea of moving up in stakes. I have dabbled at the higher buy in No Limit games and had mixed results. If I’m in a 2/5 no limit game or a 5/10 no limit game and have $1000 in front of me I don’t think about the money at all. Now, put me in a 10/20 no limit game with $2000 or $2500 and suddenly I become afraid of the money and don’t play well. This is unfortunate because as I mentioned my bankroll and skill sets can support the game, but unfortunately my mind can’t. So, what to do? I think the best route for me is to continue beating the games that I beat, and when I see a bigger game that looks real good and I’m upswinging in my current game, then take a shot at the bigger game. Eventually my mind will come to terms with the swings and I can move up.
So, whats this all mean for you, the reader? Well I figured if I have issues moving up you may as well, and it’s mostly likely issues in making the move from 1/2 no limit to 2/5 no limit. Today I’d like to elaborate on the differences in the games to best prepare you for that move. But always remember, you need to evaluate the three things I spoke about above- bankroll, skill set, and mindset. Make sure all three are ready for the move up before giving it a shot. Also, don’t be afraid to move back down if it doesn’t work out or if you are uncomfortable with the new stakes.
The biggest difference between 1/2 and 2/5 is best summed up in one word- aggression. There is a lot more preflop raising and even three betting in 2/5 than there is in 1/2. Also, there is far less open limping. While it’s very common in 1/2 to see four or more players limp in for $2 and the blind check taking you all to a six way flop, there is very little of this in 2/5. Most players know that it is very profitable to isolate limpers in no limit and players in 2/5 take advantage of this. You will often see a bad player open limp in 2/5, a good player from middle position raise to $25, and another good player on the button three bet to $75. What’s likely happening is that the good player in middle position knows that it is profitable to isolate the bad limper, and the really good player in late position knows this, knows that the good player is likely isolating light, so now he three bets in position light to isolate the isolator. Plays like this don’t always happen but are definitely more common in mid stakes games than in low limit games. It can also be taken to the extreme when the middle position player picks up on the fact that the button knew he was isolating light, so he can now four bet light to force a fold from the buttons light three bet. As you see this can easily turn into a leveling war between good players- and it all started by a bad player limping in for $5!
Apart from the three betting and open raising in 2/5, you will also see more continuation bets from the preflop raiser whether or not they hit their hand. Because of this you will have to be prepared to play post flop more with weaker hands. You can’t spend all day calling raises and waiting to flop the nuts because the good players will win all the small pots from you and then shut down as soon as you show any resistance post flop. To combat this you need to learn to continue with weaker hands that haven’t crushed the flop against pre flop raisers. This means calling in position more often, floating flops, and taking away pots on the turn or river. Bluffing (more like semi bluffing) becomes a more important part of the game as the limits go up. That doesn’t mean that we should be bluffing every pot with no regard to what we are representing. Learning to tell a story with your hand becomes much more important. Always be thinking ’if I had X hand would I play it this way.’ That will help your bets to be believable if you’re telling a believable story.2 5 Poker Strategy
With regards to online poker, I’d say this same principle holds true when moving from 50c/1 no limit games to the 1/2 no limit games. I’d also equate moving from 1/2 no limit online to 2/4 no limit online would be akin to moving from 2/5 no limit live to 5/10 no limit live. The player pool becomes much tougher and you don’t get paid off as much on your big hands so learning to win countless small pots becomes much more vital.
With that said, assuming sufficient bankroll, I’d advocate dipping your toe in slowly. Start off by playing tight, observing your opponents, and then join in the fray with calculated bets and bluffs that tell a believable story about your hand. Benton, I find that for lack of a better word 2/5 is more ’predictable.’ For example, At the 1/2 level you see a lot of players call pre flop raises with Junk hands because it was only another $8 and ’they were suited. ’ 2/5 players are less likely to make that loose preflop call. At the higher levels you get more reliable information in response to your action. As a result players with good hand reading skills can thrive at the higher levels.
While in the long run it’s profitable to play against the loose passive 1/2 players that doesn’t make it feel better when your AA gets cracked by J4 flopping bottom two pair.

That might make for an interesting article, although I don’t know how useful considering most limit players have already made the switch or they refuse to ever make the switch. I did write an article about playing limit poker. I personally started as a limit player in 2001 and made the transition to no limit in 2004-2005. Let me think about how to approach that article. Bellagio, Aria, Venetian, and Wynn I think are probably known to have the most 2/5 NL games to choose from. Others often have games, but not on as regular of a basis. From my experience, they’re all pretty similar to one another, so it just comes down to which room you feel the most comfortable in.
BTW, excellent article Benton. I agree with GameChanger. Would be a very interesting piece..and maybe the reason more Limit players don’t switch to NL is because you haven’t given them appropriate guidance on how to do so? I’m guessing that is the case.

I’d echo Krusherlaw’s comment. In my brief move up to 2/5 (back down again due to bankroll considerations) I definitely felt more comfortable at the 2/5 game due to predictability. I felt I understood bets, and hands played out as expected which I enjoyed, even though I eventually felt overmatched more times than not in these games.

@VegasMikey Good luck with your trip! I’d recommend Bellagio if you’re just making the transition. It’s a $500 max buy in there and the game is typically softer than the $1k max at Venetian or $1500 max at Wynn. Plus at Bellagio there are regular 5/10 and 10/20 NL games so it makes sense that the 2/5 would be softer than Venetian and Wynn which don’t run regular bigger games daily. Aria is an option at $1k max but also tends to be tougher than Bellagio, yet as states by others it is a bit predictable as the players are all competent.

Not sure where you are located or what your buyins are but a great alternative to a 2/5 game assuming your buying in for at least 100bb, is the Wynn 1/3 game. (500 max buyin) on a most tables plays like a 2/5 game. Just like the article states, very few limpers, pretty aggressive games. Plus since the blinds are smaller, its like a jr step before a true 2/5 game.

Anybody remember limit poker? It was the only game in town for a lot of years. Sort of like $2-5 today. I play a lot @ Bellagio because they have a lot of limit games. The $10 20 limit game, which is rare on the strip is relaxing for me after $2-5 unlimited. I predict limit will make a come back; especially at at the higher limits.

Arizona’s journey into the realm of gambling has been unique.

Arguments between the two parties continued until May 1992. At that time, the National Indian Gaming Commission clarified that tribes must have a compact with the state to operate slot machines. As a result, Governor Fife Symington asked the FBI to raid the offending casinos. What happened at the Fort McDowellCasino was unprecedented in the movement toward gambling within a state.
The Yavapai Indians operated a casino with about 300 slot machines on their Fort McDowell reservation. At the time of the FBI’s raid, several other tribes had already had their machines seized. So the tribe prepared for action when its turn came.
At dawn on May 12, 1992, federal agents converged on the casino. They loaded the machines into trailers to be hauled away. The tribe responded by blocking the only entrance road to the casino with heavy-duty machinery and large vehicles. After an eight-hour standoff that featured an agent with a rifle and binoculars keeping watch on the roof of the casino, the agents agreed to leave the machines behind for a cooling-off period. The incident ended up lasting three weeks.
In the end, the tribe’s pleas about the casino’s economic impact found an audience. Pressure on the governor caused him to come to the negotiating table. He eventually agreed to compacts with 16 of Arizona’s 22 tribes.
Ultimately, Arizona ended up signing deals with all but one of its tribes. The Hopi are the lone nation without a compact. Of the 22 tribes with compacts, 16 operate at least one casino. Decimal odds show the amount of money the bettor will receive back multiplied by the original stake. For example, if the price is $7.50, and the bet is successful, the bettor will receive 7.5 times their original stake.
Fractional odds are stating the same thing, in a different format. In fractional odds, whatever the second number is, can be seen as the stake, and whatever the first number is, is what the bettor will receive back should the bet be successful. For example, if the price is 15/2, the bettor will receive 15 ’stakes’ for every 2 they wager.
American odds are slightly different and are based of stakes off a $100 bet. When the odds are with a + sign, they represent the amount of money you would receive back from a bet of $100. When the odds are displayed with a - sign, that represents the amount if money the bettor would have to wager to receive a $100 profit. For example, if the odds are +750, the bettor would receive $750 dollars if their bet was successful. If the odds were -750, the bettor would have to wager $750 in order to profit $100 (and therefore receive back $850 in total).

ProbabilityProbability means the risk of an event happening divided by the total number of people at risk of having that event. I will use the example in a recent JAMA article. In a deck of 52 cards, there are 13 spades. So, the risk (or probability) of drawing a card randomly from the deck and getting spades is 13/52 = 0.25 = 25%. The numerator is the number of spades, and the denominator is the total number of cards.
OddsOdds seems less intuitive. It is the ratio of the probability a thing will happen over the probability it won’t. In the spades example, the probability of drawing a spade is 0.25. The probability of not drawing a spade is 1 - 0.25. So the odds is 0.25/0.75 or 1:3 (or 0.33 or 1/3 pronounced 1 to 3 odds).
Moving back and forthTo go from odds to probability, simply take the numerator/(denominator + numerator). In the spades example, the odds of 1/3 is converted by taking 1/1+3 = 0.25 - and now we are back to probability. To go from probability to odds, simply take the numerator/(denominator-numerator). In the spades example, given that the probability of drawing a spade is 1/4, take 1/(4-1) = 1:3 odds or odds = 0.33.
Statistical SignificanceIf an odds ratio (OR) is 1, it means there is no association between the exposure and outcome. So, if the 95% confidence interval for an OR includes 1, it means the results are not statistically significant. Example, exposure to colored vs white Christmas lights was associated with an increase in jocularity score, OR = 1.2 (95%CI 0.98-1.45). Sorry, this is not statistically significant. Let’s just go with white lights…
UseEither the OR or risk ratio (RR) could be used in many study types. However, only the OR can be used in case-control studies. Because in order to calculate the RR, one must know the risk. Risk is a probability, a proportion of those exposed with an outcome compared to the total population exposed. This is impossible in a case-control study, in which those who already have the outcome are included without knowing the total population exposed.Risk Ratio
RR is a very intuitive concept. It is the probability (or risk) of one outcome over the probability (risk) of another. Let’s use a study we covered on JF to discuss this concept. Survival was lower in pediatric patients intubated during arrest compared with those not intubated: 411/1135 (36%) vs 460/1135 (41%). So, the RR is 36.2%/40.5% = 0.89. This means survival was reduced by a factor of 0.89 for pediatric arrest patients who were intubated during arrest vs. those who were not. As an example, if survival was expected to be 40%, then intubating during arrest would reduce it to: 40% x 0.89 = 35.6%.
Let’s do one more example. Supination-flexion (SF) vs hyperpronation (HP) to reduce nursemaid’s elbow was more likely to fail. The risk of failure with SF was 96/351 (27%) vs. 32/350 (9%) with HP. The RR was 3. This has a very intuitive meaning: risk of failure with SF was three times more likely than HP.Odds Ratio
The OR is a way to present the strength of association between risk factors/exposures and outcomes. If the OR is <1, odds are decreased for an outcome; OR >1 means the odds are increased for a given outcome. Let’s look at the examples again and consider odds.Is 100 1 Good Odds Nfl
For pediatric arrest, the risk of survival if intubated during arrest was 411/1135 (36%) vs 460/1135 (41%) if not intubated. Let’s convert to odds and calculate an OR.

So, the OR is 0.57/0.68 = 0.83.
Note, this is very close to the RR (0.89) but is a slight overestimate of the effect on the outcome. This is always the case with the OR compared to the RR - it overestimates the effect.
Take the example of supination-flexion vs hyperpronation for nursemaid’s. The risk of failure for SF was 96/351 vs. 32/350 with HP. Let’s convert this to odds.

Note, the OR overestimates the RR, which was 3. Although one could say the risk of failure using SF is 3 times greater than HP, one could not say, based on the OR, the risk was 3.74 times greater. Whereas RR can be interpreted in a straightforward way, OR can not. A RR of 3 means the risk of an outcome is increased threefold. A RR of 0.5 means the risk is cut in half. But an OR of 3 doesn’t mean the risk is threefold; rather the odds is threefold greater. Interpretation of an OR must be in terms of odds, not probability. Again, the OR will always be an overestimate compared to the RR. However, the RR and OR will be similar for rare outcomes, <10%. But the OR increasingly overestimates RR as outcomes exceed 10%. This is easier to understand with an example.

·The ’Canadian’ bet, which is sometimes referred to as a Super Yankee, requires the bettor to pick out five selections, which results in 26 individual bet components. As such, a 10p Canadian would cost £2.60 as an overal stake, with the bet being made up of 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four-fold accumulators and 1 five-fold accumulator.
A five fold is a five team accumulator and a six fold is a six team accumulator. If you had put on a five and a six fold with a tenner each it would have cost you £20. What you’ve done here is accidentally put the second bet on as all singles rather than as an accumulator. Three bets for your multiple are known as a treble, whilst four or more bets are simply known as an accumulator. Bets may also be known as folds; so 5 bets maybe known as a 5 fold, 6 bets 6 fold and so on. How do Multiple Bets Work? To give you a better understanding of a multiple bet we will run through a quick working example. A heinz bet works in a very similar manner to the lucky 15 and lucky 31 bets explained above, but there are six selections being made this time. Therefore, there are 57 lines; 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-folds, six five-folds and a six-fold accumulator. 57 lines is £10 x 57 = £570.
A Canadian bet is a relatively complex form of multiple bet which is somewhat similar to a yankee bet or a Lucky 15. However, unlike those bets, which are made up of 11 and 15 bets respectively from four selections, the Canadian expands the field to five selections and 26 bets.
This means that a Canadian bet can be complex to think through and place, especially for novices. Bettors who are considering making a Canadian bet should ensure that they are very knowledgeable about the sport and participants they are placing the bet on. Those who are not could well stand to lose their original stake, which could be very high because each additional bet that’s placed makes the original stake higher.

For each NFL game the oddsmakers set a number of points in which the favored team is favored by. Bettors can then either choose for the favored team to win by more than the number of points set, or bet on the underdogs to lose by less than the number of points they are underdogs by or win the game straight up. For example, the spread could be set on the favored team at 6.5 points. This would mean in order for a bet on the favored team on the spread to win they would need to win by more than 6.5 points (7 or more) in order to win the bet. The negative (-) sign indicates that the Cowboys are the favorites, while the positive (+) sign indicates that the New York Giants are the underdogs. With the spread set at 2.5 points, a bet on the Cowboys would mean that they would have to win by more than 2.5 points (3 or more) in order for you to win that bet. A bet on New York would mean that the Giants would have to either lose by 2.5 or less points (2 or less) or win the game outright in order for your bet to win.

Here you can see that the Rams are +3.5, while the Cowboys are -3.5. So for this example the Cowboys are 3.5 point favorites, while the Rams are underdogs of 3.5 points. If you were to bet on St Louis you would need them to lose by 3 or fewer points or just win the game outright. If you were to bet on Dallas you would need the Cowboys to win by 4 or more points.
If the Cowboys were to win by 3 points, lets say 30-27, any bets on the Rams +3.5 would win. Even though the Rams didn’t win the game they covered the spread of 3.5 points.
Now if the Cowboys were to win by 4 points, lets say 31-27, the Cowboys have covered the spread and anyone who wagered on Dallas would win their bets.Other NFL Spread Betting Information
You may often notice that the spread is sometimes set at an even number such as 3, 6 , 10, etc. In this case if the favored team won by the exact amount set for the spread the bet would be pushed, and all bets would be returned. For example, if the Patriots were 3 point favorites and they won by a FG (3 points) than this would results in a push, meaning no matter which side you bet on you would get your money returned to you.
The most common NFL spreads are usually set between about 2.5-10.5 points, but you will also almost always have games each week with spreads lower than 2.5 and higher than 10.5. In the event that the oddsmakers feel the game doesn’t need a spread, it would be set at 0 or what some call a pick’em (both teams are given even odds to win for this type of bet).
The odds given on the spread are usually -110 unless otherwise noted. It is not uncommon to see one side of the spread being -105, with the other side being -115. The point spread gives a reason for bettors to risk money on both teams. The better team playing in the game is considered favorite. They have to win by the point spread offered by the sportsbook. The favorite in a game is listed as being minus (-) the point spread.
The worse of the teams playing in the game is called the underdog. The bettor wins if this team wins the game outright or loses by an amount smaller than the point spread. The underdog in a game is listed as being plus (+) the point spread.
Let’s use this past Super Bowl between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs as an example.
Using this example, the Chiefs were 3-point favorites over the Buccaneers. The Chiefs needed to win by 4 or more points to cover the spread.
Likewise, the Buccaneers were 3-point underdogs. That means the Buccaneers needed to win the game outright or not lose the contest by 4 points or more. At Chiefs -3, if they won by exactly 3 points, the betting result would have been a “push” and bettors for both sides would have gotten their wagers refunded.
